CNG Association launches nation-wide protest movement
Association leaders says govt has not honoured the promises to provide CNG to stations.
BAHWALPUR: The All Pakistan CNG Association on Saturday started a nation-wide peaceful protest movement against government over planned victimization of the CNG sector.
In this regard, a protest meeting was held at Bhawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry which was attended by the CNG operators arriving from Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Lodhran, Bhawalnagar and adjoining areas.
The meeting observed with concern that Adviser to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr. Asim Hussain had promised APCNGA leaders to end gas load shedding and restoring supply to CNG filling stations from February 1st which proved wrong.
Speaking at the occasion, Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA said that all the recent developments point towards a plan of influential to destroy CNG sector and natural gas infrastructure to ntroduce costly liquid gases in the country to earn billions in shortest
possible time.
Current artificial gas crisis and unjust distribution of gas penalizing Punjab is part of the plan hatched by those who matter the most in the current coalition. All the sectors using natural gas have alternatives not including the CNG sector therefore it merits to top position in the priority list.
Chairman APCNGA Bhawalpur Region Mian Shahid also spoke on the occasion. Reposing full confidence in the leadership of Paracha has assured all out cooperation. Lauding the courts, Shahid said that masses and CNG sector will get relief after March 16 when new setup will be installed.
During the meeting, the CNG stakeholders decided to reopen CNG stations by force and resist attempts by any government department to shut outlets in violation of the court orders.
The meeting passed a resolution for immediate dismissal of Dr Asim, responsible for worst-ever energy crisis in the history of country. They strongly condemned the unprecedented power and gas load shedding in the country that has affected businesses and every citizen.
The disaster is the result on record corruption on the part of a ruling cabal making up the most notorious people ever to occupy highest offices, they observed.
CNG station owners also asked Punjab Government and police to refrain from taking any action that amount to contempt of court. Masses were also asked to support the demands of APCNGA as it will give them much awaited relief..Sec ond protest meeting will be held in Multan on Sunday.
