Constitutional Reforms Committee defer decision to rename NWFP
The Constitutional Reforms Committee of the Parliament has rejected the suggestion of formation of new provinces as provinces opposed the suggestion. The committee also postponed the decision to name NWFP as Pakhtoonkhwa. The committee met at the Parliament House Islamabad under the chairmanship of Mian Raza Rabbani to discuss constitutional reforms for provincial autonomy. Sources said that ANP leader Haji Adeel had proposed to change the name of NWFP to Pakhtoonkhwa; however, PML-N, MQM, PML-Q and Jamat-e-Islami opposed this suggestion. According to the sources, Aftab Khan Sherpao suggested naming the legislative body, either parliament or Majlis-e-Shoora, however this suggestion was also rejected as consensus could not be developed. The committee will meet again Saturday morning.
