PM Gilani took notice of power crisis and summoned National Energy conference today.

Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Monday took notice of power crisis, which triggered violence across the country and summoned National Energy conference on Tuesday.The National Energy conference was called to review the ongoing power crisis and to develop strategy to overcome these crisis.The PM directed Water and Power ministry and Federal Minister for Petroleum, Asim Hussain to slash loadshedding on emergency bases.The PM directed Water and Power ministry and Federal Minister for Petroleum, Asim Hussain to slash loadshedding on emergency bases.Currently the country is facing shortfall of 7,500MW of electricity. The production of electricity is 10,800MW against a demand of 18,400MW.The Urban areas are experiencing 16-18 hours loadshedding while the rural area are facing 20 hours power cut.Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has hoped that situation will be improved soon as a result of steps taken by the government.
