POL price cut gets nod, CNG price may also be slashed

Ministry of Finance has approved a decrease in prices of petroleum products by Rs 2.

The new prices would be in effect 12 midnight Tuesday.According to sources, the price of petrol will be decreased by Rs 2, making the per litre price Rs103.68.The price of diesel will be decreased by Re 1 per litre and will be sold at Rs107.16 while the rate of Kersone oil will be slashed by Rs1.5 a litre to Rs 100.19.The summary for the price decrease has been sent to OGRA and it is expected that a notification will be issued Tuesday night.The price of CNG is also expected to be reduced by Rs 2 per kilogram, sources said.On April 1, the government increased prices of all the petroleum products as well as that of CNG. The rate of petrol was hiked by Rs Rs8.02 per litre to Rs 105.08; diesel by Rs4.70 to Rs108.10 and; the price of Kersene oil was ramped up by Rs5.29 per litre to Rs101.69.
