Funeral prayer of Fakhra Younus offered in Karachi

The funeral prayer of Fakhra Younus has been offered at Edhi Foundation's Sohrab Goth Centre.

Fakhra Younus, an acid attack victim, has committed suicide in Italy a couple of days ago.Fakhra Younus face was disfigured when her husband Bilal Khar, an ex-MPA and son of former governor Punjab, Ghulam Mustafa Khar, threw acid on her in 2000.Fakhra went to Itlay for treatment where 39 surgery attempts were made to reshape her disfigured face but all in vain. She committed suicide in Italy a couple of days ago.According to details, Fakhra met Bilal Khar in 1998 and both married after six months. However Ghulam Mustafa Khar was against this marriage.Differences crept between the couple when Fakhra came to know about Bilal’s three previous marriages. After that she returned to her parents’ house and started to live there. One day Bilal came to in-laws house and threw acid on Fakhra.The acid attack badly disfigured Fakhra’s face and she went to Italy for treatment where she committed suicide. Her body reached Karachi Sunday Morning.Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Husaain has demanded public hanging of the persons involved in acid attacks on women. He also demanded stern action against Bilal Khar.
