Surfers and actors stroll down blue carpet for Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer hits US theaters on April 8.

The blue carpet was rolled out in Hollywood for the premiere of the “Soul Surfer” based on the life of a professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton.Hamilton, played by newcomer AnnaSophia Robb, was an aspiring young surfer, training for competitions when she was unexpectedly attacked by a tiger shark in 2003. Hamilton, then 13, survived the attack but lost her left arm.The film narrates the emotional roller coaster following her attack and follows the teenager as she learns to adjust to her new life, highlighting her unwavering determination to go back to the ocean and surf the waves.Helen Hunt, who plays Hamiltons mother in the film, says she had no doubts she wanted to be a part of such an inspirational story.Co-starring with Hunt and making their film debuts in this surfer tale are country singer Carrie Underwood and Lorraine Nicholson, daughter of Jack Nicholson.Also starring in the film are Dennis Quaid, as Hamilton’s father, and Kevin Sorbo, as Holt Blanchard, the man who saved Hamiltons life.
