(Web Desk) - For many years now, the Pakistani music scene has been a mysterious subject in sophisticated settings, but all the buzz in colleges and universities, running through the veins of influenced “rebellious” youth as they discuss guitars over a smoke.

These very Pakistani kids have always needed a platform to showcase what they can really do with a few hand movements and turning of their vocal chords. Pepsi provided one such platform in 2002 with the first season of Battle of the Bands which was a successful show through and through, giving us bands like Aaroh and EP.

15 years later, Pepsi Battle of the Bands came back to our screens with a bang. The first episode of this season, aired on July 30th 2017, took off with a blast from the past showing glimpses of the connection of Pepsi and Music.

Then began an introduction of the anticipated judges: the nation’s heartthrob, singer and actor Fawad Khan and the diverse but trendy actress, model and singer Meesha Shafi.

Aaroh’s Farooq Ahmed also accompanied them as an auditions judge while there are rumors of other rock stars like Atif Aslam joining the bandwagon as guest judges later on.

The anticipated reality show is hosted by Pakistan’s much loved Ayesha Omar. With her charming smile and sense of style, she took the first episode to another level.

She explained the process, where judges will guide and work with the bands selected in auditions throughout the show until eventually 6 top bands remain. The best out of these 6 bands will be selected through the nation’s votes. The winner will get an album deal, concerts across Pakistan and lifetime royalty over their music.

The first episode showcased the auditions, where many talented groups of people displayed the passion for the love of music. Naqsh and Shajr, two of the bands had female lead singers and wowed the judges with their music. Jasim and the Pindi Boys, Bari the Band, OB Positive, Madlock and Aura all gave mesmerizing performances. Another band, positive came forward with the fusion of East and West music and seized the hearts of all three judges.

By the end of the show, the judges seemed pretty impressed by the new talent; however they don’t plan on going easy on the bands. These were just the auditions; we can only imagine what more the biggest battle of the bands in the country has to offer.
