Rafaqat Ali Khan mesmerizes Lok Virsa audience

A live musical concert with classical singer Rafaqat Ali Khan was held at Lok Virsa, Shakarparian.

Rafaqat Ali Khan belongs to the famous family of musicians, that is, ‘Sham Chaurasi Gharana’ and is known for his innovative style of music known as ‘classical pop’.National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (NIFTH), Lok Virsa organised the event under its popular series on “Documentation of Genealogical Musical Families of Pakistan”.Federal Minister for National Heritage & Integration, Samina Khalid Ghurki, was the chief guest on the occasion.A large number of people from different walks of life attended the event.Addressing the occasion, Samina Ghurki vowed that Ministry of National Heritage & Integration is determined to take all possible steps to preserve musical heritage of Pakistan.Explaining objectives of the programme, Lok Virsa’s Executive Director Khalid Javed said that Lok Virsa launched the musical series titled as “Documentation of Genealogical Families in Pakistan” with a view to encourage youngsters in the families of reputed musicians (Ustad) to continue practice the art they inherited from their elders.Acknowledging contribution of Norwegian donors in supporting the Pakistani culture, the Chief executive Lok Virsa, said, “we are highly indebted to the Norwegian government and its people for their continued help towards the promotion and preservation of Pakistani culture. We do hope that this spirit of cooperation will not only continue but also grow further in the time to come”.Answering a question, the chief executive Lok Virsa said that his institution is in process of producing concerts of young promising artists who have their own genealogical roots and recognition in the world of music.
