Dunya News

French Ambassador in Pakistan Philippe Thiebaud said France is willing to work with BISP.

Various initiatives of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) especially Waseela-e-Sehet (Right to Health) and Waseela-e-Taleem (Right to Education) are vital interventions with regard to the objectives of women empowerment.

Keeping in view the effectiveness of the Programme, France is willing to work with BISP especially to promote girls education and healthcare facilities for the women. Philippe Thiebaud, the Ambassador of France in Pakistan said this while talking to Federal Minister and Chairperson BISP Farzana Raja during a meeting here at BISP Secretariat Monday.

H.E. Philippe Thiebaud said that the data collected by BISP for the identification of deserving families is quite significant and should be shared with the development organizations to avoid duplication of efforts in the social sector. He said that children are future of any nation and hence, by making children its focus, BISP is a doing a commendable job.

Farzana Raja on the occasion welcomed French Government’s offer to work with BISP. She said that BISP is ready to share its poverty census data with France as per the Data Sharing Protocols devised so that it could be beneficial for various interventions in the social sector.

Chairperson BISP termed Waseela-e-Sehet and Waseela-e-Taleem as revolutionary projects of BISP. She said that while Waseela-e-Taleem would impart education to 3 million children from beneficiary families, Waseela-e-Sehet initiative is quite instrumental in helping underprivileged segments of society by enabling them to mitigate their immediate needs through health cover and life insurance.

She added further that women, children and youth are prime considerations of BISP and it has laid down the foundations of socio-economic revolution in the country through the steps aiming at well-being of these segments of society.

She thanked France for its support to Pakistan. The possibilities of mutual cooperation in various interventions in social sector also came under detailed discussion during the meeting.
