(Web desk) – Pakistan nailed a remarkable victory against World XI by 20 runs in the first match of the Independence Cup last night in the Gaddafi Stadium.

As the stadium echoed with national anthems, life returned to Gaddafi Stadium as charged crowds welcomed both the teams on the ground.

Pakistan scored a total of 197 for the loss of 5 wickets with a substantial contribution by Ahmad Shahzad who scored 39, Shoaib Malik 38, and Babar Azam who scored a smashing 86 runs. Baber remained the shining star of the night as he made 86 runs of just 52 balls and remained the top scorer. His astonishing batting attack led Pakistan to a powerful position.

Babar has played 9 matches in his career of T20s and has scored 339 runs, of which last night’s innings hold the highest score of his T20 career to date and has a notable strike rate of 123.72.

After watching the neck-to-neck competition between two great teams, the nation waits with bated breaths as Gaddafi gears up for the next battle between Pakistan and the World XI.
