Rain delays Windies, Afghanistan decider

Rain has delayed start of the third ODI between West Indies and Afghanistan.

GROS-ISLET (AFP) - Rain further delayed the start of the final fixture of the three-match one-day international series between the West Indies and Afghanistan at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia on Wednesday.

Play was set to begin more than two-and-a-half hours late because of steady showers, with Afghan captain Asghar Stanikzai winning the toss and choosing to bat first in a match reduced to 43 overs per side.

However, the rains returned minutes after the toss and there is likely to be a further reduction of overs. A minimum of 20 overs per side must be bowled to constitute a match.

The series is tied at 1-1 after the home side hit back from a shock 63-run loss in the opener to take the second match by four wickets.
