Umar Akmal should be ashamed: Waqar Younis

Dunya News

27-year-old Akmal was earlier dropped off the team for poor fitness

(Web Desk) – Former coach Waqar Younis has said on Wednesday that Umar Akmal should be ashamed that the head coach had to send him back to Pakistan over poor fitness.

“He should be thoroughly ashamed that Arthur and the coaching staff have had to send him back to Pakistan. Umar should look in the mirror and tell himself, ‘In future I will sort this out’. Will he do it? I’m not sure that he will, as there have been many incidents involving him throughout his career. That is why the talent has not blossomed. He has not done justice to himself,” cricktracker.com quoted the former coach.

A day after Akmal was declared unfit and was dropped from the national cricket team, a clip of him dancing went viral on social media with many cricket fans censuring the player for irresponsible behaviour and poor discipline.

27-year-old Akmal was earlier dropped off the team for poor fitness and Haris Sohail replaced him.

Champions Trophy 2017 is to begin on Thursday in England and Pakistan is to play its first match against India on June 4.
