AB de Villiers becomes the fastest batsman to 8000 runs
De Villiers achieved the landmark of 8000 runs in his 182nd match
(Web Desk) – AB de Villiers, the star South Africian batsman became the fastest player to reach 8000 runs as he overtook India’s Sourav Ganguly record on Wednesday.
The master blaster Proteas who also has the recordd for the fastest ODI hundred, achieved this feat at Durban versus the Kiwi bowling lineup. De Villiers achieved the landmark of 8000 runs in his 182nd match. The previous record holder, namely Sourav Ganguly achieved the record in 200 matches.
Batting first on the green Durban pitch, de Villiers made a brisk 64 off 48 to boost his side to 283. South Africa later won that match by 62 runs. South Africa has gone up by 1-3 in the series.
