Ramazan: PSO imports extra fuel to limit power outages

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has made arrangements ahead of Ramazan to not let demand and supply of electricity go haywire, reported Wednesday.

Reportedly, the state-owned enterprise has arranged extra fuel for power plants for the holy month of Ramazan.

The company is importing at least five tankers of furnace oil in the ongoing month. The import will support supply of around 23,000 tonne furnace oil to different plants per day.

Sources privy to the PSO stated that each ship will carry 65,000 tonne will arrive on different dates in June.

The company has taken steps to curb fuel shortage leading to increased hours of power outages on directives of the Finance Ministry.

The current imbalance between supply and demand of electricity in the country is 5,000 Mega Watt.
