President Barack Obama believes his 2010 deadline for closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is within reach despite difficulties in finding places to relocate detainees, the White House said. Asked if the deadline could still be met, White House spokesman Robbert Gibbs told in a press briefing: Absolutely, I think you've seen over the past few weeks progress, particularly with statements by the European Union and individual countries in their desire to share the responsibility of settling transferred detainees.
