The new Iranian president has 15 days to introduce his cabinet to the parliament for a vote of confidence after the swearing-in ceremony.

After the Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf delivered a speech at the start of the ceremony, 69-year-old Pezeshkian took an oath on the Holy Qor'an.

In his address to the ceremony, Pezeshkian said that "We will seek constructive and effective engagement with the world based on the principles of dignity, wisdom and expediency."

He said that Iran wants to become the first power in economic, scientific, and technological fields at the regional level.

"The world also needs to seize the unique opportunity to solve regional and global problems with the participation of a powerful, peace-seeking and dignified Iran."

He pointed to the Israeli regime's genocidal war on Gaza and lamented the United States and some Western states for delivering arms to the regime amid its war on Gaza Strip.

Later in his speech, the Iranian president pointed to his administration's readiness to continued negotiations with the world major powers in order to remove the anti-Iran sanctions, reminding the West and Washington that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful as it has been verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) .

He stressed that Iran remained committed to our commitments under the nuclear deal.

"Pressure and sanctions do not work [in dealing with Iran]," Pezeshkian addressed the Western States, calling on them to show respect to the noble Iranian nation.

"Iran has always stood on the right side of history," he stressed.
