Boy falls into pit, unscathed

A boy in China was rescued by firefighters after falling into a hole in the ground.

When a man in Shanxi Provinces city of Taiyuan spotted the boy stuck deep in the ground on his way home, he contacted firefighters to report the incident immediately.Upon hearing the news, a rescue team immediately rushed to the scene and found that the boy was trapped upside down in a pit 30 centimeters wide and two meters deep.As the boys head was also visible from another one of the holes openings, the team was able to closely monitor his condition. The base of the pit was very narrow, rendering the boy unable to move. In addition, his feet were pointed upward, making it difficult for him to breathe.The firefighters quickly began the rescue effort by clearing away grass and dirt from around the pit. After assessing the situation, the team began pulling the boy out of the deep hole with a rope. Meanwhile, other team members worked to make sure he was breathing in enough oxygen.After a two-hour effort, the boy was rescued. According to a doctor at the scene, the boy did not sustain any serious injuries.The boy has been taken to a local hospital for further examination.
