Statue of Liberty capped off a day of birthday celebrations with a grand fireworks display.

New York harbor lit up with a grand fireworks display on Friday (October 28) to mark the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty.The statue was a gift to the United States from France. It was Dedicated by President Grover Cleveland on October 28, 1886.Since then she has welcomed millions of new arrivals to the United States, especially in the late 1800s and early 1900s, as boatloads of immigrants from around the world passed before her to nearby Ellis Island processing.The Statue of Liberty will close, starting from Saturday, for a 27 million dollar (USD) renovation project that is expected to take a year to complete.
