Indian President, Pratibha Devisingh Patil visited the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Indian President, Pratibha Devisingh Patil visited the Dargah (Sufi shrine) Sharif (noble) of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer city of Indias northwestern Rajasthan state and prayed for peace and harmony in the country.Talking to mediapersons in Ajmer on Monday, she hoped that brotherhood, peace and harmony prevails in the country.Recently the country has witnessed gory incidents of violence, the recent being blasts in the national capital and Agra city of Indias northern Uttar Pradesh state that injured several persons.The Sufi shrine is a symbol of religious convergence as people from all religions throng the holy place in large numbers with a belief that all their wishes would be fulfilled after they offer prayers at the shrine.Thousands of devotees congregate at the revered Ajmer Sharif shrine every year to offer prayers on the occasion of Urs (death anniversary of a Sufi saint). The shrine is the last resting place of the saint who died in the year 1235.
