No injuries have been reported, damages being investigated with reasons, state broadcaster IRIB

ISFAHAN (Reuters) – Defense Ministry’s ammunition depot has been hit by a loud blast, Iranian State TV has broadcasted.

A loud explosion was heard at a military installation in the country s capital city of Isfahan, Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported on its website early on Sunday.

A security official has said that there were no injuries.

An explosion occurred in one of the Defense Ministry s facilities that manufacture weapons and there were no injuries, IRIB said quoting a statement from the deputy governor for security in Isfahan.

"Damages are being investigated as well as reasons and materials that caused this explosion and will be reported later," an official, Mohammad Reza Jannesar, later said on state television.

In recent years, there have been several explosions and fires around Iranian industrial, nuclear and military sites.

In times of conflict with Israel and the US over Iran s nuclear program explosions have occasionally raised concerns.

If indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran fail to save a 2015 nuclear agreement, Israel has long threatened to take military action against Iran.
