Bomb kills UK soldier in Afghanistan

Britain's defense ministry says a soldier has been killed by an explosion in southern Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense said Sunday the soldier from 1st Battalion The Rifles was killed by a roadside bomb while on foot patrol Friday in the the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand Province.The soldier was not identified, but the ministry said his family has been informed.The death brings to 379 the number of British service personnel who have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001.
