Opposition triumphs in Thai elections

Thailand's opposition wins the country's general elections by winning 263 seats in the house of 500.

Yingluck Shinawatra, the sister of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, led the opposition in the elections.Thaksin’s government was toppled after a military coup in 2006. Thaksin was forced to live in exile since then.Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of Democrat Party conceded defeat in a national election after exit polls showed the opposition Puea Thai Party winning a majority.He congratulated Yingluck Shinawatra on her victory.Yingluck will be the first woman prime minister of Thailand.
