Japan: One minute silence observed for quake victims

More than 28,000 people have been killed and feared missing in the Japanese disaster.

A minute of silence was observed in Japan for the earthquake and tsunami victims on Monday. At 2:46pm Japanese local time, the whole country went silent as they remembered the victims and expressed their grief. A recent survey revealed that more than 28,000 people are feared dead and missing while millions of people, whose houses have been destroyed and swept away, are living in relief camps. The total damage by the earthquake and the tsunami is estimated to be more than US$ 300 billion.
