Protesters will not achieve their goals: Ahmadinejad

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the enemies who planned the anti-government protests in Tehran on Monday will simply fail to achieve their goals.

During an interview on State Television, Ahmadinejad said that it is evident and clear that the Iranian nation has enemies because it is a country which wants to progress and achieve its peak and wants to change relations between countries in the world. Of course there is a lot of animosity, even against the government. But the protest planners will not achieve their goals, he added.While on the other side thousands of Iranian students, including members of the countrys Basij held a rally a day after two people were killed in anti-government protests. Chanting death to America slogans, the protesters accused opposition leaders of being part of a Western plot to overthrow the Islamic system.
