Extravagance in Iftar is against piety: Saudi Arabia's grand mufti

Shiekh directed the people to prevent thriftiness because it is contrary to piety and righteousness.

RIYADH (Daily Dunya) - Saudi Arabia s grand mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah al-Sheikh has warned the fast observing faithfuls to strictly prevent spendthrift in Iftar as it is against piety.

In a statement by the grand mufti, he said that some philanthropists try to excel in preparing numerous dishes for their guests for Iftar. He said that serving the pilgrims and making arrangement of Iftar for them is undoubtedly an action bearing great reward but many people become extravagant in all this.

Shiekh directed the people to prevent thriftiness because it is contrary to piety and righteousness. He urged that profligation during Iftar is against the teachings of Ramazan and glory of piousness.
