The man who bashed in the face of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has apologized for what he called a superficial, cowardly and inconsiderate act, Italian press reports said. I don't recognize myself, said Massimo Tartaglia, who threw a heavy souvenir replica of Milan's gothic cathedral at the prime minister on Sunday. Tartaglia, 42, said he acted alone (with no) form of militancy or political affiliation, the ANSA news agency reported. The assailant has a 10-year history of mental problems, according to Italian media. He faces up to five and a half months in prison if convicted of injuring Berlusconi.
