As 14th August is an important day for Pakistan, similarly it has significance for many other countries. Pakistan came into existence on August 14, 1947 and the same day the Second World War was ended. In celebration of the announcement of the end of World War II, a ceremony was held in Times Square, New York. Sixty four years later on August 14, the nurse in the iconic photograph, Edith Shain, was back in Times Square. Shain explained why she was helping to promote the program, saying that it was important for young people to understand the sacrifices that were made by Americans who fought in World War II.
