(Web Desk) - A newlywed couple in China has captured social media attention after it emerged that both the bride and groom share exactly the same name and work in the same professional sector.

The 33-year-old groom and his 28-year-old bride, both named Xu Xiaokong, tied the knot on October 6 in Zhejiang province. Their names are written using the same Chinese characters, making their coincidence even more unusual.

According to the bride, some of her relatives who did not know the groom initially assumed that his name had been entered incorrectly on the wedding arrangements. However, after learning the truth, they described the coincidence as a matter of fate.

The couple not only share a name but also come from the same province and work in civil aviation. The bride is a flight attendant, while the groom works as an aviation safety officer.

Their paths first crossed in 2016 at a job fair. When an interviewer called out the name Xu Xiaokong, both stood up at the same time. They initially considered it an ordinary coincidence, but a colleague of the groom, who had previously studied with the bride, later noticed their identical names and introduced them to each other.

The couple began their relationship in 2019. However, sharing the same name also created some practical complications.

Reports said that when they applied for marriage registration and property ownership certificates in May this year, the computer system struggled to distinguish between their records. Officials had to complete some of the procedures manually.

What began as an unusual coincidence eventually brought the pair together and has now turned their wedding into a widely shared story on social media.
