LUCKNOW (Dunya News) - In an unusual case from India, a woman has approached the police with a complaint requesting them to arrange her marriage with a suitable person as her family is allegedly refusing to get her married.
According to Tribune India, Madhuri Patel, a resident of Sarai Inayat area in Uttar Pradesh, stated in her application to the police that her family is avoiding her marriage to save expenses.
Madhuri Patel said she wants to get married, but her brother and sister-in-law repeatedly create obstacles and have rejected several proposals. She further alleged in her complaint that her brother has transferred family land into his own name and is not willing to take responsibility for her marriage.
She has named her father, mother, brother, and sister-in-law as respondents in her application, stating that she has been living alone for the past 20 years and is managing her own expenses.
The woman also accused her family of using abusive language against her and claimed she has faced mental harassment as well as a physical assault on one occasion. In her request, she urged police to find a suitable man and arrange her marriage so she can live with dignity.
Police officials said that after receiving the complaint, an investigation has been initiated and action will be taken based on evidence.
