The primate escaped, drank beer and frightened neighbors for two days
(Web Desk) - A pet monkey named Momo, who escaped from its owner and roamed the streets of Indianapolis for two days, has been captured, according to multiple reports.
The Indianapolis Police Department first wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday that they were assisting Indianapolis Animal Control Services “with a monkey on the loose near 500 Ironridge Ct,” adding, “There are reports of minor injuries from the monkey, but we can’t confirm it is from bites.”
According to WTTV, the police department reported a third encounter with Momo on Thursday. The station said bystanders spotted the monkey running down a road after the animal was scared by a dog's bark. Momo took off into some trees as officers chased it with a net, per the outlet.
Finally, the IMPD announced Thursday morning on X that "Momo the monkey has been captured safely," alongside a photo of an officer holding a net standing beside the owner, who was cradling Momo.
