Transpersons' unusual protest over cut in BISP succour

LAHORE (Web Desk) – In a unique incident, a group of transpersons held a protest over the reduction in grant given under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Rahim Yar Khan on Friday.

The transpersons got on their knees to demonstrate their disappointment over the action taken by the authorities. They said the government had reduced the amount of the grant from Rs12, 000 to Rs7,000, adding that only 15 of more than 150 people of their community had been declared eligible for the programme.

The protesters appealed to Shazia Marri, chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme, to ensure the provision of the amount without any reduction and also include other transpersons by registering them.
