(Web Desk) - The paleontologist has discovered fossilized remains of a sea dragon at the Rutland Water Nature Reserve in UK.

The remains discovered were of a sea dragon known as the Ichthyosaurs. The sea dragon’s skeleton was found while carrying out some routine maintenance on the nature reserve near Egleton, in Rutland. It is said to be the biggest and the most complete skeleton of its kind found till date in the region.

The age of the remains found were said to be 180 million years approx. The detail study of the fossil revealed that the sea creature’s skeleton in nearly 10 meters long whereas the skull of the structure weights about one ton.

The study further revealed that the sea creature is the first Ichthyosaur of its species known as the Temnodontosaurus trigonodon that has been discovered in the region. As per the scientific facts, Ichthyosaurs were marine reptiles from the times when dinosaurs ruled the planet. The sea dragons used to roam the sea around 250 million years ago and faced extinction 90 million years ago.

According to Scientists the remains of the 180 million years old sea creature is one of the “greatest finds” in British paleontological history.
