New York: Escaped peacock perches on window ledge

A peacock escaped from New York's Central Park Zoo and got stranded on a fifth floor window ledge.

A peacock wandered away from the Central Park Zoo and perched itself on a fifth floor window ledge of an apartment building in New York City.The male bird drew a crowd to the posh Fifth Avenue building on Manhattans Upper East Side as it sat on the ledge and peered into the window.According to the Central Park Zoo, the peacock is not a threat to anyone. In a statement, the zoo said it hopes the bird will fly back to its home. If it doesnt, the zoo said it would go and retrieve him.Neither the peacock nor zoo officials will have far to travel. The apartment building and the stranded bird are just across the street from Central Park.
