Summary Drone surveillance will be used to monitor imam bargahs, majalis, and procession routes across Islamabad
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - For the first time in the capital’s history, authorities have developed a dedicated mobile application titled ‘Mahfooz Muharram’ to strengthen security arrangements during Muharram.
The initiative was reviewed in a high-level meeting on Muharram security and administrative arrangements chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Officials said that drone surveillance will be used to monitor imam bargahs, majalis, and procession routes across Islamabad. A central control room has also been established at the Safe City headquarters to ensure real-time monitoring and coordination.
The interior minister directed authorities to implement a four-layer security cordon for majalis and processions, along with strict checking at all entry and exit points. He also emphasized maintaining close coordination with religious scholars to ensure peace and order during the holy month.
As part of the new digital security measures, the ‘Mahfooz Muharram’ app allows citizens to report suspicious individuals, unusual activity, or inadequate security arrangements. Users will also be able to share live location data and images through the application.
Officials said the system aims to improve response times and enhance public participation in maintaining security during Muharram events in the federal capital.
