ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced significant regulatory reforms in Pakistan’s identification system, officials announced on Monday.

According to a NADRA spokesperson, the reforms were approved by the NADRA Authority Board and published in the Gazette of Pakistan.

Key changes include the establishment of formal procedures for reviewing records for ID verification, special verification boards for investigations, hearings, and final decisions, as well as clearer definitions of important terms in ID card regulations.

Procedures for destroying obsolete or uncollected ID cards and handling multiple ID card cases have also been made transparent.

The new regulations also cover registration rules for orphanages and child protection institutions, clarify eligibility criteria for the Pakistan Origin Card, and outline required documents for verifying lineage while safeguarding cardholders’ rights.

Additionally, NADRA has approved procurement regulations to ensure a transparent and modernized purchasing system. The full text of the new regulations is available on NADRA’s official website.
