(Web Desk) - The microblogging site, 'X,' formerly known as Twitter, remains inaccessible to people in Pakistan for the last two days.

It was restored for a few minutes on Monday after two-day blockage.

It has been inaccessible across Pakistan since Feb 17.

Netblocks, a global internet monitor, said on Saturday the “national-scale disruption to X amid escalating unrest and protests over allegations of election fraud, following a high-level resignation and public admission of vote manipulation” by Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha, who admitted to rigging under his watch, triggering a fresh wave of controversy over poll results..."

It hit out at the authorities for blocking people's access to the site.

What happened in Pakistan

Elon Musk's platform experienced several outages, leaving users unable to access information and post content. Despite the widespread disruption, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) did not issue any statement regarding the suspension of the social media site in the country.

The service outage posed significant challenges for journalists, hindering their ability to report news effectively. 'X' has traditionally been the primary platform for both reporting and accessing news, making the current situation particularly problematic.

This suspension of services is not an isolated incident, as Pakistan has encountered recurring outages of various social media sites, especially during times of chaos and social unrest, such as allegations of rigging in general elections.
