The overseas can use their personal phones for 120 days without payment of custom duties

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched the Temporary Mobile Registration System to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals.

The system was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif at a ceremony in Pakistan. The system will enable overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals to use their personal phones for 120 days without payment of custom duties during each stay.

How to apply for mobile registration?

Applicants are advised to apply using their own credentials i.e. Passport/CNIC/NICOP (whichever applicable) etc. and ensure that IMEIs programmed in their mobile device(s) are entered for registration in DIRBS.

Applicants who have received mobile device(s) through courier from abroad, may sign up in DIRBS and apply under Courier Category to generate Payment Slip Identification (PSID). Upon payment, applicant can present the paid custom duties slip PSID/ IMEI details to concerned custom office for release of their mobile device.

Applicants having Dual-nationality/Foreign Passport may apply using the passport number on which they have travelled, along with CNIC/ NICOP (in applicable) in DIRBS.

Custom duties are generated by FBR, where a Payment Slip Identification (PSID) is issued. This PSID can be paid via: Online banking, ATM OR Bank branches within 7 days from date of generation of PSID. In case of non-payment within 7 days will result in deletion of PSID from FBR database.

Temporary Registration Facilitation is available for all visiting Overseas Pakistanis’/ Foreign Nationals etc. for a period of up to 120 days against their ONE (1) mobile phone, where 120 days shall start from their date of arrival in Pakistan.
