WhatsApp rolls out new group call features

WhatsApp, a widely-popular messaging and calling app, has introduced new features for better connecting as a group on calls.

Users can now start a video or voice call on their mobile devices with up to 32 people - four times the previous amount.
Long pressing on a participant will enlarge the video or audio feed and allow the admin either mute or message them separately, while keeping the calls going.

“Whether you’re making a last-minute call or planning one ahead, you can easily invite people to a group call by sharing a call link,” reads the Meta blog.

The calling app has also made functional changes for a more seamless calling experience. It includes “colorful waveforms” which enables users to easily see who is speaking if their camera is off.

A feature of “In-call banner notifications” has also been introduced that will help see when someone new joins a group call.
