Google is sending its Streetview camera cars to map and record the areas hit by the disaster in Japanese earthquake and tsunami.Despite Google not being a dominant player in the Japanese market it took an initiative of ‘Person Finder’ technology to help people search for people feared lost in the Japanese earthquake. The company developed tools for the disaster zone soon after the earthquake. These included encouraging users to upload pictures of the handwritten posters they were putting up looking for missing relatives.Google is leading towards a new initiative in Japan to periodically document the affected region. The company is sending its Streetview camera cars to map and record the areas hit by the disaster. Despite Google’s initial Streetview surveys being too intrusive the company is taking their chances.
