LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan restricted Australia to 231/9 in the second ODI of the three-match series at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.

After opting to bowl first, Pakistan struck early as captain Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Alex Carey with the first ball of the match. Josh Inglis (51) and Cameron Green (53) offered resistance with half-centuries, while Matt Renshaw contributed 43 and Oliver Peake added 31.

However, regular breakthroughs prevented Australia from building substantial partnerships.

Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led the attack with 3/36, while Arafat Minhas, Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed claimed two wickets each.

Pakistan's triumph in the first ODI was largely driven by a remarkable debut performance from 21-year-old spinner Arafat Minhas, who claimed five wickets with his left-arm orthodox bowling. The spin-friendly pitch in Rawalpindi exposed Australia's struggles against spin, with Pakistan's slow bowlers accounting for eight wickets.

Conditions in Lahore, however, have traditionally favored batters and have produced several high-scoring contests in recent years. Australia successfully chased 352 against England during last year's Champions Trophy, while Pakistan posted 349 against Australia at the same venue in 2022.
