(Reuters) - Guild Esports, a London-based esports business co-owned by football legend David Beckham, just announced a global launch. Guild Esports’ first team will begin the competition in the Fall, starting with Fortnite, FIFA, and Rocket League. Scouts will look for athletes who can commit to the team who will be coached to develop their skills.

The esports industry is currently valued at $1.1 billion and is projected to grow 42 percent to $1.56 billion by 2023. This is an excellent time to enter the industry and contribute to its ongoing growth. Guild plans to constantly scout and recruits young talent in order to develop them into esports top competitors. Creating the greatest esports players is the goal of David Beckham and Guild Esports.

While Beckham’s presence is a huge draw for fans, especially for FIFA, the day-to-day business will be handled by Carleton Curtis, who just left Activision Blizzard after helping implement the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League. Curtis announced his departure Wednesday to become the executive chairman at Guild Esports.
