India's Sania Mirza on Thursday knocked out of the French Open.
World no.13 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland powered her way into the third round of the French Open on Thursday with a hard fought 6-2, 6-4 win against India’s Sania Mirza. Radwanska, who has never gotten past the fourth round at Roland Garros in four appearances will next face the no.21 seed Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium, a 6-4, 7-5 winner against Ayumi Morita of Japan.Twenty unforced errors including 5 double faults told the story of Sanias first set, a disappointing outcome for a player who has all the shots in her arsenal to be a top 20 player.Mirza started the second set just as she had the first by breaking serve, and followed it up with her first hold of the match to take a 2-0 lead. Her joy was to be short-lived though as Radwanska crawled right back into the contest drawing level at 2-2 before a pair of breaks and subsequent holds left them locked at 4-4. Radwanska held serve in the crucial 9th game and then like all top players put the pressure right back on Mirza as she served to stay in the match.
