No assurance of captaincy for Afridi: Ijaz Butt

PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said that if he wanted to, Shahid Afridi can play the ODIs against Ireland.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt said that Shahid Afridi had not been given any guarantee that he would continue as the captain of the Pakistan ODI squad.Shahid Afridi gave a statement about the differences in the team management after returning victorious from the ODI series in the West Indies. Referring to Captain Shahid Afridi, Ijaz Butt said that no discussion had taken place on the decision on the captain’s future. Ijaz Butt said that news concerning retaining or removing Shahid Afridi as the captain of the Pakistani squad is baseless. He said that if Afridi wanted to, he could play the One Day International matches against Ireland. Shahid Afridi is currently in America and upon his arrival he is expected to meet with the PCB chairman.
