PHF secretary seeks Rs60mn grant for World Cup 2018
Training camp for players practice has started, however, more funds are required.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Shahbaz Ahmad, Senior secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation, (PHF) has asked sports ministry to release, within 7 days, Rs. 60 million for preparation of Hockey World Cup 2018 that is scheduled to start on November 28 in India.
Shrahbaz Ahmad said that if Pakistan did not participate in world cup it would bring country bad name as well as entail a heavy monetary penalty.
The senior office holder said that budget is necessarily required for the preparations purpose. Although the training camp for the players practice has started, however, for further arrangements funds are required.
Shahbaz Ahmad said that team is not a strong enough combination, and it is going to make no major difference even if 22 coaches train the players.
I, nevertheless, aspire to promote such a culture of this sport in Pakistan as to help promote our national game of hockey, he added .
The announcement of Tauqeer Dar and Danish Kaleem’s inclusion in team management is expected to be made in a day or two.
Earlier, on November 3, former Olympian Shahbaz Ahmad was elected as a member of the Executive Board of International Hockey Federation (FIH).
