Pakistan will face India for the third place on Saturday,

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Secretary Shahbaz Ahmed Friday expressed his disappointment on the team’s performance in the Asian Games.

He called on the players to focus on winning their third position match against India on Saturday.

“Winning and losing is part of the game but Pakistan team must forget about the past and think about winning the third position match,” he said in a video message.

Pakistan lost to Japan who qualified for the Asian Games Hockey final where they will face Malaysia.

Team manager Hasan Sardar blamed bad umpiring for Pakistan’s loss and said the field and third umpire were “biased” towards Pakistan.

“We were awarded a penalty stroke in the 44th minute, but Japanese appealed against this decision and to our amazement the video umpire upheld the Japanese protest.

“We were deprived of a goal. We protested against the Indian officials before and after the match but they ignored our protests,” he added.
