Hockey revival: World XI beat Pakistan in first match
The second and final match of the series will be played in Lahore on Sunday.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sports revival in Pakistan continues as international hockey came back to Karachi in the form of World XI which defeated Pakistan by five goals to one.
The match was played at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Stadium in the Sindh’s provincial capital, and the tourists took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Pakistan’s only goal was scored by Adeel Latif in the first quarter. The World XI netted the ball five times in the third and fourth quarters. Roderick Weusthof, the visiting skipper, struck two goals.
A graceful opening ceremony was held before the match in which singers and artists gave wonderful performances.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal graced the occasion and encouraged the players.
