The former national player has been included in training camp for the 2018 Commonwealth Games

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former national hockey goalkeeper Imran Butt has been recalled for the training camp held in Lahore for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

He is likely to make a comeback after being dropped due to disciplinary action in past. He had spoken against then head coach Khawaja Junaid and levelled serious allegations on him. Butt had blamed the coach for poor performance and decline in the rankings.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) had taken disciplinary action against Butt and suspended him over statements in the media. The goalkeeper couldn’t manage to regain spot in the squad after his suspension.

Interestingly, the head coach was also replaced after miserable run in the World Hockey League 2017. Sources also told that Butt has been added in the training camp after the hockey team met defeat during Australia tour.

Commonwealth Games will commence from April 5, 2018. The training camp for the multi-national tournament will be held after National Hockey Championship which begins from December 10.
