Substitute David Silva equalized in stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw for world champions Spain in their friendly away to Mexico at the Azteca on Wednesday. Striker Javier Hernandez scored in the 12th minute to put the Mexicans ahead against Spain in their first outing since winning the World Cup in South Africa a month ago. Hernandez chased a ball into space, faced goalkeeper Iker Caillas and, with the Spain captain expecting a shot across his body, slotted the ball inside the near post. Santiago Cazorla came close to the equaliser when he hit the Mexican bar with a rasping left footed drive after 29 minutes. Vincente del Bosque sent Silva and Xavi on as second half substitutes and the changes worked. Silva ran on to a fine through ball from Xavi to slot the ball past keeper Jesus Corona in the first minute of injury time and then dragged a shot wide of the far post with only seconds remaining
