The Indian Olympic Association was suspended in December.

NEW DELHI (AP) - A top Indian Olympic official says the suspended Indian Olympic Association is running out of time to clean up its administration before next year's Winter Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

International Olympic Committee member Randhir Singh told The Associated Press on Saturday that any delay would mean "a crucial loss of time" as the major sporting events grow closer.

The Indian Olympic Association was suspended in December for conducting elections declared illegal by the International Olympic Committee.

It's been given an Oct. 31 deadline by the IOC to amend its constitution and a Dec. 15 deadline to hold fresh elections if it wants to return to the Olympic fold.
