New Zealand coach Andy Moles resigned, four days after reports emerged that top players had raised concerns about his ability. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed Moles' resignation and said 'no head coach would be named for the upcoming limited-overs series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.' Moles' position has been tenuous since Wednesday when it was first reported senior players had expressed a lack of confidence in his performance. Moles, 48, who succeeded John Bracewell as New Zealand coach last November, was contracted through the 2011 World Cup. The parties reached an amicable agreement at mediation on Friday the terms of which are confidential to the parties, NZC said. Moles had been in charge for almost a year, producing moderate results including no test wins as played seven Test, four drawn and three lost and he is about 50-50 in one-day internationals as the contract goes through to the 2011 World Cup on the sub-continent. In 19 completed ODIs under Moles, New Zealand have won nine and lost 10, the highlight being the final appearance at the Champions Trophy and a bold showing (a 2-2 draw) in the Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia.
